Alison’s Personal Haven
Haven’s Kitchen founder Alison Cayne, mom of five kids, has a haven to call her own right in her West Village townhouse. She has brought to life real-estate dreams and what one can only imagine in a five-storey structure endowed with a turn of the century interior. Inspired by her creative instincts, unique taste, choice of pared-down palette, Pinterest and other interior visuals, she has come up with a passion-filled sanctuary and idyllic home for her children.
Following Instincts
It’s remarkable how this huge space has been personalized with Alison’s touch from top to bottom, with notable preference for black, white, and gray colors. The distinction is prominent with the gold-mustard tone highlights which were naturally laden without being overly studied. She tells how she has learnt that one has to know what you really like and how to achieve the effect, and that your space simply has to be your favorite place.
Touring the Home
The living room features an intricately carved fireplace with a mirror of the same exquisite craftsmanship, centered across two yellowy mustard sofas. Alison skipped the rug to let the beauty of wood flooring shine, while windows, curtains, and walls flaunt a pristine white gold combination.
The dining table expands to accommodate family gatherings and guests within a minimalist yet stunning artwork backdrop. The wooden furniture is matched with chairs that exhibit yellow mustard borders. After dinner, it goes back to being a quiet homework table with the leaf kept back in place.
Marble countertops radiate elegance in the kitchen, while classic glossy brass knobs and outlines sprinkle golden tones throughout the area. Custom wall shelving keeps everything well-organized, nice and neat, set amidst classy brick-like white tiles.
Alison’s office serves as her getaway zone with a pleasing white on white theme. A glass table is set at the center to match the glassy doors and windows, with its golden stand resting on soft and comfy Moroccan rug. It matches the elegance of the wall mirror atop the white fireplace in the middle of a library collection.
The bedroom has the same astounding white theme that extends through the bathroom. A airy white bed appears to float as it contrasts the black backdrop and complements a black and white patterned rug on the lustrous wooden flooring. The place is enhanced with brass accents in the furniture and lighting fixture, then imbued a soft feminine touch within her built-in vanity.
